The Orquestra Jazz de Matosinhos (OJM) has developed in recent years a number of projects with singers coming from the most varied musical styles, from jazz to Brazilian music and world music, creating unique arrangements for repertoires never heard in big band version. In this concert, OJM has the presence of one of the most outstanding singers of the Portuguese pop music, Manuela Azevedo, known especially for her career as lead singer of the band Clã. The repertoire gathers selections of the singer and OJM and should go through some of the songs of the American songbook, among other proposals.

Sunsets lulled by jazz are already a tradition at Lisboa na Rua.
Lisboa na Rua is an intense cultural programme that takes place during the month of September and tries to defy social and spatial conventions.
For this show, which is also a celebration of its 20 years, Orquestra Jazz de Matosinhos invites one of the most renown singers of Portuguese music, Manuela Azevedo, known especially for her long career as leading voice of the band Clã. The repertoire gathers picks by the singer and goes through some of the paths of the North-American and French songbook, of Brazilian popular music and even Clã themselves.

With original arrangements for big band, these themes will be interpreted by the charismatic leading voice of Clã in this new encounter with OJM. Orquestra Jazz de Matosinhos invitated Manuela Azevedo in 2014, following the work the orchestra has developed in the last few years with voices from diverse musical universes, from jazz to Brazilian music, to world music and pop.

Orquestra Jazz de Matosinhos and Manuela Azevedo return to the stage to support the project IPO-Porto- Caring for You!
Aiming at raising awareness for the crucial role of research in the future of cancer treatment, Porto’s Portuguese Institute of Oncology Gentil Martins (IPO-Porto) organises another solidary show at Coliseu Porto, whose funds go totally to cancer research.
On the 17th of April the IPO-Porto celebrates 43 years of activity centred in the Patients, for those who work hard every day to provide them the best innovative and high standard health care.

Two months after the first performance that joined on the same stage the Orquestra Jazz de Matosinhos and Manuela Azevedo, which was sold out in the Suggia room of Casa da Música, the Big Band and the vocalist of the Clã meet again by invitation of NOS in D’Bandada, on the 13th and at Praça dos Leões, the main stage of the event which is known as the “St. John of the music”; the concert is at 23h30 and the access is free.
