Trombone

Andreia Santos began her education at the age of eight in euphonium, at the Escola da Banda de Música da Quinta do Picado. She attended the Music Conservatory of Aveiro, and later studied at the Music Professional School of Espinho. She attended trombone masterclasses with several teachers, among whom Joseph Alessi and Hugo Assunção. In 2004, she played solo in a concert with the Young Musicians Orchestra of Inatel. Later she studied jazz trombone, having has teachers the trombone player Lars Arens, the trumpet player João Moreira and the piano player Carlos Azevedo. She attended several jazz workshops with Jayson Palmer, George Colligan, João Martins and Óscar Graça, Lars Dietrich, Samir Zarif and Marshall Gilks.

In 2011, she was awarded the first prize in the category of superior schools combos, in the “Festival de Jazz do São Luiz”, in representation of ESMAE. She recorded an album of originals (also in 2011) and has been participating in recordings for Orquestra Jazz de Matosinhos and CORETO, among others.

Currently, she attends the education masters’ degree, jazz branch, at the University of Aveiro, and lectures the jazz professional course of the Conservatory of Coimbra.
