Double Bass

Demian Cabaud was born in 1977 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He graduated at the Instituto Tecnologico de Música Contemporánea, Buenos Aires, and at the Berklee College of Music International Network in Argentina. In 2001, he got a scholarship to study at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, and graduated in May 2003. He studied double bass with Hernan Merlo and the conductor Miguel Angel Villarroel, and is currently under the mentorship of the conductor Alejandro Erlich Oliva. He had the opportunity to study with some of the most prestigious jazz musicians in the world, such as Hal Crook, Ed Tomassi, Dave Santoro, John Lockwood, Whit Brown, George Garzone, Danilo Perez and Frank Carlberg.

He is currently a regular member of the Orquestra Jazz de Matosinhos. As a leader he released the albums “Naranja” (2008), “Ruínas” (2010) and “How about you?” (2011) edited by TOAP Records and “En Febrero” (2013) edited by Fresh Sound - Fresh Sound New Talent Records.

Damien has already collaborated with Lee Konitz, Joe Lovano, Chris Cheek, Mark Turner, Bill Mchenry, Rich Perry, Rick Margitza, Seamus Blake, Ohad Talmor, Perico Sanbeat, Jesus Santandreu, David Schnitter, Maria Schneider, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Phil Grenadier, Darren Barret, Russ Johnson, Jason Palmer, Juan Cruz Urquiza, Jason Moran, Bill Carrothers, Leo Genovese, Bernardo Sasseti, Albert Sanz, Mário Laginha, Maria Rita, Maria João, Theo Bleckman, Sheila Jordan, John Riley, Jorge Rossy, Gerald Cleavert, Francisco Mela, Dan Weiss, Ferenc Nemeth and John Hollenbeck, among many others. He collaborated with Joe Lovano in the educational DVD “Developing a personal approach” (Berklee Press).
