Trombone

Daniel Dias was born in 1981 in Santa Maria da Feira. He studied Trombone at ESMAE. He was scholarship holder member of the Youth Orchestra of Santa Maria da Feira and during two years he was part of the Banda da Praça da Alegria (RTP). He was member of the orchestra of the musicals by Filipe La Féria, taking part in the plays A Gaiola das Loucas and Annie. He has oriented several Trombone masterclasses at the Pico Island (Azores), Conservatory of Aveiro, Centro Cultural da Branca (for the Federation of Bands of the Aveiro district), Regional Conservatory of Madeira and at the Amarante Summer Classes.

He has worked as reinforcement for Orquestra Filarmónica das Beiras, Orquestra Regional do Norte, Orquestra Sinfónica da Póvoa de Varzim, Orquestra de Sonhos, Orquestra Sinfónica Portuguesa, Orquestra Nacional do Porto, Orquestra da E.S.A.R.T. and Orquestra do Minho.

He is a member of the Portuguese Trombone Ensemble, with which he has recorded A Different Era. He is also part of the group Mr. MC and Wild Bones Gang performing with this formation several concerts, participating also in the Geneva Brass Festival (Switzerland). He is a member of the projects Funky Bones Factory, Banda Sinfónica Portuguesa, Ploo and Coreto, with which he recorded the albums Aljamia and Mergulho [Dive]. Currently he teaches at the Academia de Música and at the Escola Profissional de Música de Espinho.
